Art Club Update

It’s been a few months since we last posted, but there has been lots of creativity going on at Alloa Art during this time. We’ve had two very successful linoprinting sessions, a night experimenting in dry media and an enjoyable evening sharing our favourite artists. Due to an expansion in the premises we rent at Resonate, we are now able to open the doors to new members, so please get in touch with juliedunion@btinternet.com if you are interested in joining.

Monoprinting Workshop

This month members tried their hand at monoprinting after a short demonstration of the basic techniques by club Chairperson Julie Dunion. It was a fun evening of experimentation, creativity and ink covered hands!

Down at the docks

The temperamental Scottish weather held up on Monday night to allow some of our members to have a plein air drawing session at the Alloa docks.

Painting with light

The group had a fantastic time at our May meeting undertaking some experimental light painting photography. It’s fair to say there was as much laughter as creativity, which is always a good sign. A huge thanks to Neil Stevenson and Theresa Pickles for organising the night and making it so enjoyable for everyone.

Experimenting with Collage

Monday evening saw another enjoyable night at Resonate with members producing an original array of mixed media collages. A huge thanks to everyone who brought along such fantastic and inspiring materials to share.

March Taster

On Monday, the club hosted a Wet Media Taster Evening, where members had a chance to try their hand at a wide range of materials including oils, acrylics, watercolour and inks. There were some fantastic paintings produced over the course of the evening.

For our next meeting in April we will be experimenting with collage. Please note this is a change from the original schedule and the photography workshop will now take place in May.

Clay Workshop

Tonight club members enjoyed participating in our first pottery workshop. A huge thanks to Carol Nelson for running the workshop and making the night so creative, informative and fun.

Official Launch Night

Tonight saw the first meeting of Alloa Art Club. A huge thanks to all our talented members who came along to share their artwork. We are extremely grateful to Angela Beardsley at Resonate for all her help in providing us with the perfect set up for the evening.

Plans are underway for our next meeting on the 14th February when we hope to have a hands on session working in clay. Further details will follow shortly.
